Update re the Health Practitioners (Replacement of Statutory References to Medical Practitioners) Bill

In November 2016, 8 separate Acts of Parliament were amended to enable suitably qualified health practitioners to carry out some activities that could previously only be done by medical practitioners. This work was previously known as the Health Practitioners Statutory References Bill.

The Ministry of Health have recently updated important information on their website related to changes in health practitioner status. The updates clarify that health practitioners can only undertake statutory duties if working within their scope of practice. For more information, please see the following link: http://www.health.govt.nz/about-ministry/legislation-and-regulation/changes-health-practitioner-status.
