Moving Overseas?
Psychologists seeking employment overseas, or to register with an overseas
authority, are often asked to obtain a Certificate of Good Standing from the Psychologists
Board. This Certificate records registration details, whether a Practicing
Certificate is held, and notes that the practitioner has no outstanding complaints or competence matters. It
will be signed and dated by the Registrar. This document helps authorities and prospective employers to determine whether or not you
are a fit and proper person to be registered.
The cost of this document, and any other document required for the purpose
of seeking registration overseas from the Board, can be viewed here. Payment and a letter (including
registration number) requesting a Certificate of Good Standing should be sent to the Board, Payments
by cheque, MasterCard, or Visa credit card are accepted. The Certificate and a receipt will be mailed out
within 5 business days.
Psychologists who are overseas will have their entry held in the archive section of the Register. They should provide the Board
with an overseas contact address. Psychologists who are overseas will not receive an
Annual Practising Certificate Renewal Notice (Invoice). Psychologists who
return to New Zealand and want to commence practising will need to contact the Board about
purchasing an Annual Practising Certificate and inform the Board of their New Zealand
address.
