Travelling Overseas?
Registered psychologists seeking employment overseas, or to register with an overseas
authority, are often asked to obtain a Certificate of Good Standing from the Psychologists
Board. This Certificate records registration details, whether a Practicing
Certificate is held, and notes that the practitioner has . It
will be signed and dated by the Registrar. As in New Zealand,
this document helps authorities and prospective employers to determine whether or not you
are a fit and proper person to be accepted.
The cost of this document, and any other document required for the purpose
of seeking registration overseas from the Board, is $43.00 including. A cheque and letter (including
registration number) requesting a Certificate should be sent to the Board, or
simply download and complete our
Payment Form (PDF,
76K), complete your details and send it into the Board's office. Payment
by MasterCard and Visa credit cards are also accepted. The Certificate and a receipt would be mailed out
within 5 business days.
Registered psychologists who are overseas will have their New Zealand Psychologists
Register entry held in the archive section of the Register. They should provide the Board
with an overseas contact address. Psychologists who are overseas will not receive an
Annual Practising Certificate Renewal Notice (Invoice). Registered psychologists who
return to New Zealand and want to commence practising will need to contact the Board about
purchasing an Annual Practising Certificate and inform the Board of their New Zealand
address.
Notification of Address and
Name Changes
Sections 140, 141 and 142 of the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance
Act 2003 requires that psychologists registered with the New Zealand
Psychologists Board must ensure that the Board's Registrar has your
current postal address, current residential address, and (if applicable)
current work address. (Note: this information will remain
confidential).
Psychologists who make any changes to their name after registering with the
Board (i.e. marriage) should notify the Registrar in writing of the new name
within 1 month of the change.
On written application of a registered psychologist, the Board may direct
the Registrar to cancel their entry in the register relating.
